Shakti Aawahan, 2014
Shakti Aawahan means invoking the latent powers of one’s spirit. In Shaivite Hinduism beliefs, Goddess Durga and Lord Shiva are the female and male aspects of the cosmos. The painting is an attempt to visualize the fusion of these two opposite but balancing forces that enables the manifestation of the universe. The lion in the background symbolizes the power that one has to invoke by virtue of his sincere and transcendental cogitation.
Acrylic on canvas, 60 x 90 cm.
